Chapter 9:As you and your team work collectively with the rest of the faculty at your school to develop a PLC, there may be some who have philosophical differences with this concept. How will you address the following questions that may be asked by other faculty members, parents, school board members, or other members of the community? Question One: Doesn’t this system of interventions simply enable students to act irresponsibly? Question Two: Are we forgetting the whole child? Question Three: But aren’t we neglecting the gifted and high-achieving children? Question Four: Isn’t this what special education is designed to do?

Any plan created would be to ensure that EVERY child gets to learn the most they can the best way they can. For instance, if no zero were employed, it addresses all students because all students would be expected to perform on every assignment. There is no bias there. No one is left out. School is for students to learn what they don't know. We are not here to baby sit, we are here to make sure they all leave knowing more than when they got here. That means finding ways to meet the kids where they are.
