Parental support is a main concern when considering barriers to implementation. I think we could help this matter by better informing our parents through more evening programs focusing on opportunities for our students. Also, by allowing parents to express concerns at these meetings, we would provide them a voice and also offer immediate feedback to them. By continuing to reward excellence in the classroom, students and parents will most likely begin to realize that the efforts they are making are really helping them achieve.

This chapter can really be sumed by the idea that "here are the expectation of our school; meet them and you will receive greater freedom and autonomy each year"
Growing lax on removal of privileges of individuals who do not maintain good grades and behavior is a great barrier. However it is also so easy to go back to the authoritarian values and say "here are our rules; obey them or we will punish you"

The bottom line is every student should be expected to do every assignment at at least 60% That should be the expectation, and then it is our job to see to it that it happens. If that means staying late, coming early, lunch tutoring, calling parents, incentives for not having missing work, etc., then that is what we must do.

I think that the expectations of both students and parents should be kept high. If the school continues to expect a lot from their students and holds them accountable for their actions and grades/acheivemetns then we will continue to improve test scores etc. Parental involvment is HUGE at our school and we should continue to foster those relationships and expectations of the parents to continue on the road of success for our school. Continuous parental contact is essental for any school to be successful, it is important that we (teachers) continue to foster those positive reationships.
